Light in the Dark is an international initiative that helps tourism businesses and destinations develop successful off-season experiences across the Baltic Sea Region.
Through collaboration between tourism businesses, destination organisations and higher education institutions, the project has developed practical tools, research insights and tested examples to support year-round tourism development.
Why was the project created?
Many tourism businesses face seasonal challenges, with visitor numbers concentrated during a short summer period.
Light in the Dark was created to explore how destinations and tourism businesses can make better use of existing natural, cultural and local resources to create attractive experiences throughout the year.
Who is behind the project?
Light in the Dark was developed through cooperation between universities, destination management organisations, tourism experts and tourism SMEs from across the Baltic Sea Region.
The project was funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme and co-financed by the European Union.
